VCU Life Sciences welcomes individuals of all backgrounds to participate in learning about and further exploring the life sciences. Our field is based upon the fundamental fact that all forms of life share a common evolutionary background and that humans are one species whose differences should be celebrated. VCU Life Sciences considers diversifying its students, staff and 11 faculty one of its highest priorities. We plan to accomplish this by actively seeking people from every background, by challenging traditional viewpoints and by fostering an environment where all can bring their true selves to their everyday activities.
A diversity and inclusion committee, consisting of faculty and staff within Life Sciences, meets regularly and is charged with providing guidance and oversight. Members for the 2022-23 academic year:
- Linda Fernandez Ph.D.
- Katie Ranger
- Luiz Shozo Ozaki, Ph.D.
- Lian Currie
