Clathrin-independent endocytosis in budding yeast

Advisor: Derek Prosser, Department of Biology

I am a 4th-year PhD candidate in the Prosser lab, whose research focuses on plasma membrane trafficking in eukaryotes. My research specifically focuses on understanding clathrin-independent endocytosis (CIE), at the genotypic and phenotypic level, by utilizing various molecular-based approaches, including genetic knockouts and TIRF-microscopy. My ultimate goal is to apply my research findings to clinical applications (e.g., drug delivery and gene therapies) which have been noted to rely on CIE pathways.
